What Long Island Home Buyers Are Looking For

As Premier Long Island Realtors®, we are noticing that more and more home buyers are out and about looking for homes with open spaces, and builders are creating these spaces in their new construction homes.

Walls are coming down, and we see new construction homes with Open Floor Plans.

What used to be 4 walls around kitchens, living rooms and family rooms, we are now seeing these rooms all surrounded by one large open area. The spacious open kitchen islands give Long Island homeowners the space to hang out, work, and eat in one central space.

When you open the front doors to these homes, you are now looking from the front to back as one large open area. The kitchens have large center islands that flow directly into the eating area, and into the family room. Gone are formal dining rooms.

This new trending design has more efficient use of space. Long Island buyers seem to like the high ceilings which makes the rooms appear larger, light and open. They like the kitchens and living rooms opened as one large space.

When you are ready to buy your Long Island North Shore home, call Realtors® Lawrence & Sheila Agranoff.

Hi Sheila and Larry... that's been the case here in Charlotte for decades. When we were first looking for a Charlotte home in 1988 I was appalled by all the open floor plans... still kind of am.... I've lived with them for 21 years since that's what sells, but I'd go back to more compartmentalized spaced in a heart beat... I'm one of those peopl who hates having a kitchen in the middle of everything. Like Grata Garbo, I prefer to be alone (at least when I'm cooking).

Nina, I never saw an Open Floor Plan decades ago. It's only become popular here within the last couple of years.

Will, Yes whenever we see new construction, the walls are all gone!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - I find open floor plans are very desirable in my area too. Plus, it's a lot easier on people with pets or small children. Looking at your pictures, it sure does add more flexibility to furniture placement too!

Happy Friday!

Larry and Sheila,

I have always been a fan of open floor space even before it was a trend.  I think that the Japanese designers were among the first to do that, because they have very small spaces to work with.  A

Hello Sheila and Larry - people have definitions for all kinds of things.  And it can vary from person to person, even within the same household.  Finding the ideal match is not always easy so when people are looking to make a move on Long Island, they should align themselves with you for their representation.  You listen and know the inventory to help them.
