We've all seen the TV Ads for the free credit reports but are they really free. I haven't checked out all of them but I did check out freecreditreport.com. They do offer free credit reports but you must sign up for a monthly service. They offer the 1st month of that for free but you are charged $14.95 for each month after that if you don't cancel.
Current law requires the 3 major credit reporting agencies to provide all of us with 1 free credit report every 12 months. You can get these instantly at www.annualcreditreport.com. No fees and no sign up. You can get all three at once or you can do like I do and space them out over the course of the year.
This is a great way to help protect your credit and your identity!
