Not So Wordless Wednesday: Lifeguard Training!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

The last two days, our Carpinteria beach has been filled with kids of all ages learning lifeguard skills. Every day this week, they will learn different aspects of water safety. It has been a joy watching them learn.

They are divided in age groups.  They all wear the red shorts/swimsuits which identify them.  There is a teacher for each group.  Pictured above is the kayak lesson.  The red kayaks are the teachers.

We loved watching the proud moms taking photos, and the smiles on the children's faces...and before you ask proper precautions were observed..

Those classes are a valuable tool for keeping folks safe.  My grand-daughter, Macie is a lifeguard at U.C. Davis. . .All 4' 10" of her!

Awe... that photo brings back fond memories of my son teaching kayak lessons to campers and my daughter working as a Director for the Water Front. It's so important to teach and learn all about water safety. Let's hope everyone is safe this summer and fall.

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I remember those days when we would go to the beach and watch the drills for the junior lifeguards!

Great photo. The irony of becoming a lifeguard is you almost drown in the training. I remember my lifeguard and scuba training in 1986/1987/1988 when I was both a diver and a lifeguard...oh it's amazing what we can do when we're young.

Morning Alexandra.

Both my parents could not swim.  I was taught at an early stage, at the YMCA.
