Tournament of Roses Parade Canceled

Rose Bowl Football Game Still Possible

After a Zoom Class this afternoon, July 15, 2020, I learned the Tournament of Roses Parade which is held each January will be canceled for 2021 due to the impact of the coronavirus.  The announcement came from the pasadenastarnews.com and and as of 1:45 pm local time are still being formulated.

The photo in this post is from the 2015 parade.

Hi Michael... these kinds of announcements about the cancellation of so many "traditional" events that seem to have been around for all if not most of my life make me sad. I understand why... but it's still sad.

I heard about this cancellation in the news. Many major events are being cancelled.

Take care, be safe and have a great day.

Nina Hollander - the announcements keep coming, don't they?  Understanding the reason doesn't make it any easier.

Roy Kelley - the parade gets worldwide attention.  It seems the announcement received a lot of news coverage as well.

Normally I would say...that is crazy, it is too far off, but in this case so much planning must go into the parade. They would need to know if it can even possibly happen. Poor hotels, bars, restaurants that make a killing during the event.

Michael, all this is so sad, as so many long time events have been canceled.  Now that many of the baseball players are testing positive for COVID, it won't be long, and we won't be able to watch baseball either.

Joan Cox - 2020 has certainly been a year that has tested patience - and there is so much still to come.

Michael, you mean like 2020 has taken a whole DECADE to finish.  This has been the longest year ever!

Joan Cox - not just this year but all sorts of things(such as comments along with signing in to this site) seem as if they are in slow motion.

Michael, someday maybe this world will be "sort of" back to normal?   Probably not real soon though.

Joan Cox - "normal" is a constantly changing "state" --- maybe instead of back to or a new description, it's actually more about being in the next interpretation of the word.

Michael, I think you should put your wisdom and wit into another post, you are missed.

Joan Cox - I can barely comment on more than a handful of posts per day.  I think the AR exit plan is much easier than I originally thought.  It was pretty good while it lasted.

Michael, well, that is sad, will miss your posts, but have to say, not writing much here either.  Too difficult most days to log on.

Joan Cox - I learned a long time ago to avoid "never" but there are some areas where reality must be a part of the picture.

Michael, wondering again today if we shall see "larger" gatherings in the next year....   I miss what we used to have!

Joan Cox - I understand, as of this week that the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade will proceed on television without an audience.  Of course, subject to change seems to be a part of life.  In 2020 and in other times.

Michael, I did hear about the Macy's Day Parade, and will be very strange with no audience on the streets!

Joan Cox - I apologize for the delay in my response.  Yes, 2020 continues to show we must continue to stay aware of changes of all kinds.

Michael J. Perry - safety matters and there is no reason to have an estimated one million plus or minus people in attendance on the streets of Pasadena January 1 2021 during a pandemic.  It makes sense to me.  The Tournament of Roses is not a government agency.
