Recovery from COVID-19 can take a long time

A new study shows that young, previously healthy adults can take a long time to recover from COVID-19. The investigation published in CDC’s MMWR found that nearly 1 in 5 adults ages 18-34 who had milder outpatient COVID-19 and reported having no chronic medical conditions had not returned to their usual health after 14-21 days. Take steps to protect yourself and others:
• Stay 6 feet away from others not living in your household
• Wash your hands often
• Wear a cloth face covering consistently and correctly

Hi Roy, sorry I haven't been by in a while. Kept hitting AR at the wrong time and couldn't leave comments. Today, I'm tackling it earlier and having good luck.  In our state, we are asked to wear masks when out and about, and most comply and give one another  wide berth. There are always a few who seem to think masks, and social distancing, are not necessary.

Hello Roy - science combines so many different aspects - we continue to learn.  Well, hopefully learning is a part of it though some may think it is "magic".  I guess it is in some respect but definitely not in the hocus pocus way.

Hello Roy,  I am afraid we are in for more to come and the way the cases are increasing each day, I think it is time to stay in again.

My daughter who came down with Covid-19 in mid March has had a long prolongued battle since then.  Mostly, it is problems with her lungs and exhaustion.  She was set to see a pulmonary specialist several days ago, but he wouldn't see her until she presented a negative Covid test.  She took the test, but it took over a week to get the results.  Thank goodness she was able to present a negative result.

Roy,

These are interesting stats especially for those who are young.  Like all stats there is much more than meets the eye.  The coworkers of our neighbor (in the same age group as you mentioned) have recovered from Covid in 12 days, test negative and are back to their usual routines.  I think there is much more to study and too easy to generalize. Maryland health officials confirmed 1,288 new cases of the coronavirus Saturday. It marked the largest day-to-day increase in new cases in more than two months, since 1,784 positive test results were reported May 19.

More than half of the new cases reported Saturday are Marylanders under age 40, according to Gov. Larry Hogan, who encouraged people of all ages to do their part to stop the virus's spread.

"Everyone needs to continue wearing masks in public areas, businesses and on public transportation," Hogan said. "This alone would help us significantly slow the spread of this virus."

Hi Roy- There is so much we still don't know about this virus and what we have to remember is that masks, keeping our hands washed, and keeping our distance.

And, while some may recover quickly, others may have lingering symptoms.

Thank you for your post. It is a remonder that we should always be dilligent. Although this too shall pass, we have to take all precautions that it passes quickly by not spreadic the virus. Sorry to hear about your daughter Myrl, but so happy she is in the clear. My cousin, who is a policeman has now tested positive and is in quarantine with his parents inside the house. my cousin is in NJ right outside of NYC. We thought we were somewhat in the clear, but it's a hearsh reminder that the virus is still here and we have to be extra cautious about ourselves and our environment.

We are not out of the woods yet. Be well everybody and stay safe.
