Talking to Jeffrey Richman

A little while ago I was reading a post by Jeffrey Richman about what he did and I thought and commented, I would love to talk more with you about this. 

Frankly there are so many people in Active Rain I want to talk with, but I have been very busy and I don't want to disturb people if they are working. But, my lack of phone call does not signify lack of interest in you. I find everyone on here fascinating how they deal with their markets, where they find business, and how they  conduct themselves.

Anyway, I called Jeffrey, and he called me and then we connected and we talked and talked till I realized we had been chatting for 45 minutes and I had to go meet a client.

Firstly, it is very interesting to get a person's back story, to find out where they were and what they did before they came to real estate. Jeffrey was a DJ, playing in clubs, and I may be wrong involved with running them as well. He saw some regular customers who dropped big money in the club, so went up, introduced himself and asked what they did.

They introduced him to some people who he took courses from, and when he returned from one course a week later he was asked what he did, and as he learned on the course he said I buy houses.

The person he was talking with, said they had one, and he jokingly said so do I. No, she said a house for him to buy. And he was off and running to the races. As he told it, he did lots of things wrong on that first deal, but he still made money. And, then it was merely a matter of repeating the process, and improving his technique and systems.

Now, honestly, I was very interested, but I said to Jeffrey, I will need to talk with you again because I did not get entirely how he does what he does. All I know is he is buying and selling houses all over, often sight unseen, it all depends on the numbers. It involves, assuming mortgages, which I thought did not happen anymore, but was assured by Jeffrey it does.

As, I said, another conversation is due, and will be had. I also learnt Jeffrey is a comic book collector, of 1930's comics, and also a lover of cigars and things to do with cigars.

Maybe we will see each other one day, he lives near one of my kids, and I live close to King of Prussia where one of his best friends lives. I look forward to it. 

So, pick up the phone, you never know who might be calling.
