It's hard to believe it's August

I don't know about you, but time has been feeling so weird this year. It's not a new revelation but time is moving both slowly and quickly at the same time.  I know a lot of this is because I'm kind of stuck in my apartment.

Anyway, I finally wrote a new blog post for my site, and it's about the best types of floors when you're flipping a house.  The truth is there is no one size fits all answer and it really depends which part of the country you live in, the foundation of the home, price range and neighborhood, etc.

Also, it varies a bit based on rooms of the home (e.g. main living areas vs bedrooms vs bathrooms, etc.). So it was a challenging article to write, and I hope it came out alright.

I really haven't written an article on my site since beginning on March, as I've been working on so many other things that have higher return. Oh and let's not forget that I've had to pivot several time during this whole things, so the blog itself has been on a hold a bit as I've been working on products, emails, printables and SEOing better posts.

I figured that I should write something quickly as it's been a long time.

July turned out to be a record profit month for me. Part of that was luck (I did well on a once a year promotion and got lucky). Part was due to a mini ebook launch. Part of it was all the funnels I had put in place the previous month.

Surprisingly, my local July 4th fireworks post did very well. Why was it suprising?  Well because we didn't have any official fireworks this year.  I had written the post a few years ago (and I update it each year).  This year, all I did was said that they were cancelled. And, yet, I got over 25,000 pageviews.  Just lucky.

While I think I got to half the work I intended to do, I hope to get the other half done in August.  While July was a wonderful blip, I'm looking for ways to gradually grow my base so that maybe my base earns an extra $500-$1,000 more each month so that things will be strong/stong enough for the holidays (when my traffic always declines) and set up for a strong spring.

My main way to do this will be to steadily grow my blogging email list (via Facebook ads and bundles), new blogger products and funnels.  I'm also hoping to create some more home decor printables and figure out funnels on that part of the business.  I would love to earn at least $1,000  month on that.  So far, it's very clear that I have not figured it out, but I am determined.

After that, the next goal will be to get to $2,000/month on printables, and I'd love to be at $5,000 a month on those by this time next year. I may be crazy, and this project may not go anywhere. But, I feel like I should be able to crack this code, especially since I get so much traffic on the site.

Part of me says I just need to give this time.  But, part of me thinks that I may not have found a real need yet and I may need to reshape things.

Oh, and I was thinking of starting a podcast in September. Maybe something like "As The Flooring Girl" which would be something where people can call in with flooring questions and I could try to answer them.

I figure if I can do short "podcasts" (e.g. 5 to 10 minutes), it will be easier for me to manage and actually get started.  I originally had this idea in 2016, but still haven't taken the plunge. Maybe I will this year.

We'll see what happens. Everything seems to take 3 times longer to do than I expect.  At least we have 153 days in the year.  We can do a lot with that time.

Debbie- you will never need to buy a lawnmower because no grass will ever grow under your feet!  I'm excited to hear about all that you're doing. You're right about flooring...it's all regional and even then, it often depends upon the community. I staged a luxury condo in Boca. The agent knew her area well and told the sellers that buyers in her condo wanted marble floors...period!

It's hard, everybody feels stuck in place. I have not tried podcasts yet, I have some learning to do. Good luck!

LOL Kathy Streib I thought you were going to say I never need a lawn mower because I live in a Condo. But, yes, I have to keep moving and innovating.

Carol - Yes, I hope things will be better for everyone next year.

Hi Debbie - even without the crisis du jour that seems to exist in the world today(or at least the headline version of it) you're right about time.  Speeding by us at times as well as slugging along like a snail.  Oh, well.  Although, some things seem to take longer than planned, much continues to happen.  Your posts/life reinforces that ideas never need to stop.  Keep 'em coming(and going).  It's nice to see the activity.

Your article about vinyl vs. laminate definitely made me feel better about going with vinyl in my own home.  When my cousin first mentioned vinyl, I thought no way, no how, haha.  Then I started looking at some of the luxury vinyl and it is indeed a quality product these days.
