I Need some Ideas

Hi everyone I'm looking for Ideas to help increase foot traffic to our main street in Maple Shade. I have just inherited the chair for the promotions committee for our new Main Street designation. We have come up with many possible events and we need more of them that we can do on a shoestring. I would appreciate any and all suggestions as we are trying to build a database of Ideas for events. Hope you all can help me out.

Any Community event...Car Washes, Community Day, anything your name can be a co sponsor.

Get into the parades, convertible with Realtor of the Year, etc, etc.

Make yourself seen. Shake hands, kiss babies...magnetic signs on your cars...VistaPrint.com inexpensive signs.

Thanks I'm not realy tryng to advertize myself just to bringmore traffic to the Main st. rust me they see my mug more than they want too

Nancy how did you do the message thing? Yur right but I would enjoy the croud mor than the act. Somthing like having a pool room in River City.

Why not create a day or two and call them Main Street Day (s) and feature all that is associated with Main Street - get each business on Main Street to sponsor some sort of activity that is historically associated with Main Street USA- someone can sponsor an ice cream social, etc. Offer a treasure hunt for the children which will force them to visit every business to acquire something - if the visit every business they get a free gift - it can be small, even a balloon. Just an idea.

Thanks Coco the treasure hunt thing is a good Idea its somthing that could be modified in many different ways.

You might want to check out what Toms River does. They have special things all year, from an Ice Cream Festival, to a Halloween Parade, to a Chili Cookoff. Toms River Township is in Ocean County, formerly Dover Township.

Some other towns have special days that coincide with their history. For example, Barnegat has Pirate Days in September. Good Luck
