Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers and Clinics are located in Honolulu, Moanalua and most recently in Waipio Gentry.

About a month ago our family transferred over to the Kaiser Plan and we picked the Waipio Clinic to be our home of record as it is just blocks from home.

I wanted to just let you all know that during my first visit with my doctor I was pleased with the technology they have upgraded to since I was last with them in 2003.

The doctor went through all my history within the first hour of that first meeting.  All tests, referrals and specialist appointments were ordered right then and there.....by computer.  All the appointments were scheduled or someone called within 24 hours to let me know I was scheduled. And not a bunch of bulky paperwork to carry around or hand in at the time of the appointment. I got a printout of what was ordered and as I went to each department for the appointments all they had to do was look up my medical number and voila! Ready to go!

Now...this next thing is the kicker. I went to an appointment and it was on a Wednesday morning. I saw some kind of commotion going on at the entrance and when I got closer I couldn't believe my eyes! A Farmer's Market!

On the way out I bought small purple sweet onions, potatoes, tomatoes and a spinach and cheese Calzone. (like I needed all that bread)

Needless to say.... Medical Center and Farmers Markets. Can't beat that for healthy living :)

I bet that was a great experience. The doctor and a farmers market all at one stop.

Monika: I'd never seen anything like this ...we have many markets...but not at the clinics :)  I've seen craft fairs and stuff...but not veges. I like it!

Woo-Hoo: I say, what better place to have a Farmer's Market, than right near/at a medical building?  Fresh fruit and veggies to keep us healthy.  SUPER!

George: We get to that age where physicals are a yearly celebration when the blood tests come back normal. So you ask, "What's normal"? Blood sugar and cholesterol is up, blood pressure says cut out the salt and meditate. Aches and pains are normal.....and when the body gets moving in the am and got a couple cups of coffee under the belt they 'loosen' up a little. So hey...the farmer's markets are treats to make the dreaded tests bearable lol!

Kat: No kidding. I thought that pretty inventive. Instead of going to a hot parking lot this was under and right inside the front entrance and door. Pretty neat. They also had bento's (rice, teri beef etc,) and sushi for sale. (not sure if that was healthy but the giant spinach cheese calzone thingy was great!)

Sally, What an excellent marketing idea for both the medical clinic and the farmer's market - a win-win.

Hey nothing like strolling through the market while waiting...and high tech doctor's offices make the visit so much easier - no paperwork!
