Pictured above is fountain grass. We love its maroon feathered color. This is a perennial native coastal California grass. It is great as part of a drought tolerant landscape, as well as being deer resistant.
As you drive up on highway 154 (aka San Marcos Pass) off the 101 Freeway heading North in Santa Barbara, you will notice that the road on both sides and even up the hills is full of fountain grass. It propagates itself, and it controls soil erosion.
Happy Wednesday!
