Taxes are such a terrible thing. I wouldn't care how much tax I paid if I knew that the money was being put to good use. The biggest problem is that it rarely is put to good use, haha.

Nina, having lived in MA & CT I was always familiar with the 'no sales tax' weeks when they were competing with New Hamphire.... here in the People's Republic of California they are trying to raise our taxes again... clearly have not learned that it was a failure in many Eastern European Countries:)) Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. hi Endre...it's a forced 504 vacation... that has now become a voluntary absence. Just too frustrating to try and log on and comment. I have days when it's been impossible to log on at all. And when I can, I get quickly timed out. I will say it again... I sure wish North Dakota would follow suit Nina Hollander and do the same. If they did I wonder if the City would also drop it's 2.5% sales tax. Do the Cities in NC drop theirs?

Bob "RealMan" Timm nope... we used to have a sales tax-free weekend in NC, as well... but they stopped it some years ago. That's why those of us who live in the Charlotte area and are close to the SC border drive over there. I buy my gas there too, as gasoline taxes are lower in SC than in NC.
