Will You Be Doing Online Learning? 3 Tips to Stay Organized

If I'm being completely honest, online learning for the upcoming school year terrifies me.

My family's online school experience in the spring didn't go well - due largely to a one-year-old running around and work responsibilities. I felt overwhelmed and suffocated by my to-list, and now I feel a little burned

Like I'm afraid to get too close to the fire. It's a bit irrational.

So, I keep telling myself there's one main difference with the fall.

This time around there's time to prepare - both mentally and physically. So, here are three ways I'm preparing to stay organized - and sane with online learning this fall.

1. Make Sure You Get Help

Women especially take on too much work in a normal environment. Add in a global pandemic, and we're now working, taking care of our family, and schooling them as well. It's insane. And it also should not be up to one parent.

So, it's time to call everyone together for help. This could be as simple as a chore chart for kids to help around the house, online learning time with BOTH parents, or a house cleaner because your home looks like the junkyard.

Now is not the time to shy away from help. Ask for it often. Pay for what you need to. And embrace it with open arms.

2. Plan a Much as Possible

Because it is easy to get lost in the daily tasks, it's extremely important to schedule in priority (but not urgent) items like stress relief practices, meal planning, workouts, and alone time. These are all things that can get dropped when stressed, but are what ultimately keep us healthy and happy. So, be sure to get out your calendar early and schedule in the activities that will keep you sane along with your normal to-do list.

3. Be Flexible

And finally, this school year will be a roller coaster. We'll experience a learning curve and conditions may change quickly. If there's ever a time to learn to go with the flow, THIS IS IT.

So, go into the fall and winter with the mindset that you will do your best, and accept what you can't change. Then, be as flexible as you can with your schedule. If something isn't working, re-evaluate, and try again a different way. There's no one right solution that will fit everyone. So, trial and error may be the key.

In Conclusion

This year has been a doozy, and it's not over yet. But, we are resilient people, and we can come out of it with flying colors. So, here's to an adventurous and positive school year for my kids....and me too. Fingers crossed!!!

I hope on line learn will work for people.  I sooner see people stay in and be safe and learn that way.
