David K. Hoadley was born in Bismarck, North Dakota back in 1938. Just after graduating from high school a powerful straight-line wind damaged his home town. He continued his education earning a B.A. in political science from Indiana University and a M.A. in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
After graduation, he enlisted in the Army ROTC. He was assigned to work in the intelligence field being stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas. He retired from the Army in 2003. He is alive and doing well, residing in Virginia.
What you may not know about David is that he also taught himself meteorology where he developed a pattern recognition based on forecasting method using primarily surface data. He is the founder of the magazine Strom Track in 1977. He has witnessed over 200 tornadoes driving about 750,000 miles. He is recognized as the very first storm chaser.
