I have often wondered if blogging in Spanish would be a good idea for me. We have a large Spanish speaking population in central Nebraska and many have relocated here over the past 30 years. Many are bilingual but some of the older folks are mostly Spanish speaking.
The reason I am wondering is recently I have been contacted in Spanish mulitple times.
The majority are from Mexico and they want to be called Mexican...not Hispanic.
One thing I have noticed for years is we have very few Spanish speaking real estate agents.
Now, while my daughter has studied in Lima, Peru and has many years (over a decade) of Spanish under her belt...I have only a few words.
You maybe wondering why am I wondering?
I received this via Messenger recently from an online ad: "Me interesa este artículo".
I am able to tell that the person is interested in a home I listed for sale. I know a few things such as where he is from and his age just from his social media. I answered him in English because he had a few posts where it appeared he replied in English.
So what I know is this:
He is interested in the home...and if he has cash or can qualify...I am interested in selling it to him.
Not sure if the language barrier is real or not as my daughter will attest many Spanish speaking people also speak English...and she overhears conversations that...let's say the folks are surprised when she answers them in Spanish.
This is not the first time I have had this situation and I wonder...am I missing a huge market? Are many of us missing a large market?
My daughter is a CPA and is a Senior Auditor for a world wide Accounting firm. She has been told that they will be working remotely until next year except in rare cases...so it appears she may bunk with us for the winter as it is silly for her to be 200 miles from us and 240 miles from her boyfriend just so she can work from her apartment. She has to give notice by Monday.
SO maybe...just maybe...I can coerce her into translating some articles for me and I can see if there is an untapped local Buyer pool not being marketed to.
Let me know if you already are many steps ahead of me and how you did it!! Until then...
