Laura Horowitz was born in Winona, Minnesota back in 1971 to Michael and Cynthia. Her father is an atheist while her mother is a Buddhist. In 1978, the family moved to Elk, Mendocino County, California. When she was ten, the family moved again to Petaluma, California.
At the age of twelve she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. In 1989, she graduated from Petaluma High School with a 4.0 GPA. She had her first acting career in 1985, but it wasn’t until 1988 that her career took off. She has been the recipient of several awards, including a Golden Globe Award and she has been nominated for two Academy Awards.
