Throwback Thursday: Carlsbad Flower Fields in September

Carlsbad Flower Fields

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad are a beautiful sight every year, open from March 1 until Mother's Day in May, with 50 acres of brightly colored ranunculas.

The fields were gorgeous again this year, but sadly closed soon after opening, with events canceled due to the pandemic and the state Shelter in Place order issued on March 19th. Thankfully they are readily viewed from Armada Drive overlooking the fields and the ocean beyond but no doubt revenue suffered tremendously.

The field undergo quite a transition every year, from dirt to green plants to beautiful flowers and back to dirt again. This was the view today on a fairly gloomy summer day.

Jeff,

We are both so lucky with all the flower growers in our state.  I am so thankful for their existence. A

PS. Love the photo with the ocean.  A

It is cloudly, rainy, and gloomy in my neck of the woods. So thank you very much for brightening my screen and day with a gorgeous field of flowers Jeff!

Agreed Ron and Alexandra Seigel . Such beauty all year round with a wide variety. The views from the hill are rather special on a pretty day, and I enjoy seeing the ocean along with the flowers.

Hi Jeff... I seem to remember you posting that picture of the flower field before. I like it as much today as in the past.

That is crazy to see such nothingness and then so much beauty in the same place, but I guess that is how flowers work, haha.

I think I post every year Nina Hollander  - I never tire of it. It was interesting to see the fields up close yesterday even though they are certainly not nearly as appealing, plus it was not a very nice day!
