The Seventh Annual Purple Turtle Art Festival

With it's ideal location, stretching along the south shore of Lake Simcoe, the various communities of Gerogina are host to many events that are a draw to this tourist orientated town. In the winter there is always snowmobiling, ice fishing and of course the Canadian Ice Fishing Championship. In the summer there's boating and angling along with The Blue Bridge Festival The Eaglewood Folk Festival, the Georgina Studio Tour and of course the Purple Turtle Art Festival

Kathy, I love local festivals and this sounds like a fun one! We're use to following turkey footprints around here (Go Hokies!)

Kathy, I'm definitely going to try to get there, and visit a friend in Georgina at the same time.  Thanks for letting us know.

Kathy,

This certainly sounds like an intriguing festival to attend...I love the names they come up for these events. Very artistic and attractive!
I saw a Map Turtle today at a friend's cottage...a real one, that is.

Debbie - Growing up in what was then an agricultural community we used to look forward to the local fall fair ( just about the only festival type of venue around) As an adult with most of that farm land now covered with homes the types and number of events is endless.

Steve - I would imagine the turtles you see are much larger than the ones we see around here. the largest I have see was about 18 inches across and was a snapping turtle our most common is the little painted turtle that is about 6 to 8 inches across.

Sylvie - Your welcome ... take time to enjoy a drive along the lake shore.

Jo - I think getting a very imaginative and descriptive name for an event is the first step in ensuring the success of the event.

When I see The Blue Bridge Festival for instance it tells me little about what it is and I would have to read or search for more information to learn more about it. The Eaglewood Folk Festival conjures up an image of what to expect as does the Georgina Studio Tour, while The Purple Turtle Art Festival implies a uniqueness not to be found elsewhere.
