Arthur Rose Eldred
As always, James gives us an education with his post. You may or may not be aware of what Arthur Rose Eldred accomplished as a teenager.
Arthur Rose Eldred was born in Brooklyn, New York back in 1895. He entered Cornell University in 1912, graduating in 1916. In 1918, he enlisted in the United States Navy during WWI. He served aboard the USS Henderson seeing action near France. Later he was transferred to Italy where he attended submarine school.
He was discharged from the Navy in 1919. After being discharged he worked for a dairy and an agricultural agent for the Atlantic County, New Jersey. Later he served as the manager for the Eastern Railroad Association’s Motor Carrier Committee, the Camden County Council and the Clementon School District Board of Education.
He died in1951 from colon cancer he was 55. What you may not know about Arthur is that he was the first Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America at 16.
