Downtown Lot with tear down house - Dangriga, Belize

Go to www.loopnet.com to view all properties in Belize. In addition to this lot I have a B&B, 2 islands listed, a 50 and 40 acre jungle property. More to come. Tish,

I just read an interesting article about all of the growth in Belize as well as the environmental pressures that have resulted as a result of the building boom. It seems like everything in the Caribbean and Bahamas is having exploding growth.

Belize is a beautiful country to visit! I moved there several years ago to establish a real estate company. Little did I realize that a single white woman was a target for everyone and everything. I did establish the company (only after I found another Belizian ( from Texas married to a Belizian with political connections) that I was finally able to obtain all of the necessary permits. The road blocks are horrendous and the fees never ending. If your car breaks down, don't ever leave it because there will be nothing left when you return. The same with you home, don't buy because if you leave, everyone will know and there will be nothing left when you return or there will be squatters in the house. I was finally able to sell the 40m acres that I had purchased to my partner. He is still selling and very happy.

Hi Dee, i'm not sure if your article was supposed to be positve or negative but i do concur with some of the things you said. While i don't believe i'ts as dire as you mentioned, one should never be too careful as it never hurts to protect ones property no matter where you are. I believe areas in and around Belize city are the worst, but when visiting towns such as placencia, these negatives get outweighed by the postives from the american friendly natives there. Give Belize another try, with resorts such as Ara Macao, Copal Beach, Rendesvouz island and The Placencia Condos and Residences, Belize will soon get more recognition and exposure.
