This was sent to me by a friend... and I wanted to share it with everyone on active rain!  If you have pets.... Watch out!  Mulch purchased from Home Depot and several other retailers could be toxic to your pet.  With spring season here, and a lot of people doing some yard clean up, this comes in a timely manner.  Please visit http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asp for more information!

Good reminder, I found this out last year when I was looking at the mulch at the store;  a lady standing next to me told me that.  I don't think I would have bought it, I just don't like the way it looks, but after she told me I felt like putting up a little sign.  ( I probably would have been arrested!)  LOL

I hope everyone read this!

Jonelle:  This is good to know.  I've heard that other mulches can end up causing skin irritations on pets too.  Luckily, my animals are indoor cats.  But will keep this in mind when talking to dog owners in the area.

My daugher used these in her front yard and after a year, have pretty much disappeared (gardners have a tendency to blow them away).  Thank goodness she didn't put them in her back yard with her two labs! Thanks for the important info!

Jonelle - I'm surprised most people don't make the connection.  Chocoloate is bad for dogs....cocoa is the ingredient for chocolate.  So don't use it!  Thanks for the link to Snopes....that's always the first place I go when I hear something that sounds like it may or may not be true.
