Bill O'Reilly is at it again.

Fresh from a recent gaffe where film was released of O'Reilly throwing a tantrum during a broadcast, the bad-tempered Fox commentator recently attacked media icons Dan Rather and Bill Moyers as "radicals" for supporting legislation to control media for hire and mega-consolidation of television, radio and newspaper ownership.

The details on the controversy can be found here:

FreePress.net has recently unveiled its 2008 "Media Hall of Shame", a list of corporations and politicians-for-hire who oppose net neutrality and efforts to expose corrupt practices.  The list was revealed at this year's National Conference on Media Reform, held during the first week of June in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Joan, I think it's rather humorous to see O'Reilly calling names and losing his temper.  This is a guy who loves to order his producer to cut the interviewer's microphone off if the person he's interviewing dares to disagree with him.

Somehow that doesn't sound like "freedom of speech" to me.

Funnnnny!  But sad just the same. A while back I had the opportunity to visit a major international news bureau and as I there I got to see the various news feeds coming in unedited from around the world.

I forget what the issue of the day was, but I was amazed when later on that day I watched the Evening News and saw the level of spin that was incorporated into the report that most of us take as the "truth".

Sadly, it seems that people are okay without having to think about things.

Bob, the distinction between journalism and the garbage disguised as "commentary" has effectively become blurred in the eyes of the public.

It's difficult enough for some folks to draw a conclusion when they have access to factual information.  But when you give them nonsense and it becomes their basis for decision-making, that's scary.

It is amazing how many people believe that is it is on the news it is fact. Even worse are those that only believe their preferred news cast is fact...

I am not a fan of media in general and wish the people would just accept the primary goal is to sell advertising not educate the public for the benefit of society.
