Hi Lisa, and welcome aboard :)    I don't have any success stories as far as sales/listings yet, but I'm sure there will be plenty of  fellow rainers that will share theirs with you.

Thanks!!

This all seems so over whelming and I have heard many people state that they did get business from blogs.  Its good to know that Greg has had luck with this.

Thanks again!!

Yes. It works. But don't get too overwhelmed. A good strategy is to first browse AR and find interesting posts to 1) learn about what others are writing about 2) to start commenting on blogs. Commenting is easier and more fluid than writing your own posts (less to plan for) but you will get comfortable talking to other AR people quickly. But always stick to the original blog post's topic when commenting. Whether it's an addition to the topic, encouragement or personal opinion, make it relevant to the blog post. Once you are comfortable engaging in conversations, you will find it easier and easier to write your own blog. Finally, once you are writing your own topics naturally, you'll learn the advanced skills, such as formatting posts, including images and links etc.

Regarding content, try to find a niche. Something you are passionate about, your geogrpahic niche. And make sure you stay personal. And of course, ask questions. This is one of the most helpful online community I ever saw. Business will follow. Mark posts Member's only if it's a question, concern or opinion you do not want the general public to see and make sure you make everything public which can have any value to public audience.

Lisa,

Last year I probably got 15 deals from people reading my blogs.  My market may be a bit different than yours (we have parents buying condos and single family for their students) but it's a very powerful tool.  You'll find the AR blogs that pertain to your town in the top of the search engines.  You do have to work at it.  You also have to write relevant, timely articles about the market.

Good luck!

Think of blogging as a learning experience for both you and your new potential clients and/or contacts.  Think about what questions you may have had about real estate before you became a part of it and it will easy to create things of interest.
