An application drive is currently being held for potential homeowners in Henderson County.
Pre-applications are available at the Henderson Co. Chamber of Commerce
149 Eastern Shores Drive.
All pre-applications must be received by
Friday, July 11th, 2008.
Applicants must demonstrate the:

•· Need for affordable, decent housing
•· Willingness to partner with Habitat

What is a Habitat House?
Habitat Houses are affordable because they are:
• Built by volunteers working with future homebuyers
• Sold at no profit
• Financed with a twenty year 0% interest mortgage
Habitat Houses are "no frills", simple, decent houses with:
• Insulated walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, and windows
• Easy to maintain design and materials
• Modern fixtures and appliances
Habitat Houses are homes for families who:
• Attended budgeting, construction, and home maintenance classes
• Invested 500 hours of "sweat equity"
• Built their own home with the help of Habitat friends

Do I Qualify for a Habitat Home?
If you would like to know more about qualifying to own a home through Henderson County Habitat for
Humanity, please answer the questions below. Mail the completed "pre application" for to :
Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 635, Lexington, TN 38351. We will contact applicants if basic guidelines and
requirements are met for further follow up. You will then receive a HOUSING APPICATION to formally apply
for a Habitat House.

Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity International is a non profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks
to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter
of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership
with families in need.
Criteria and Requirements For Applying
• There must be a NEED for shelter-meaning there is currently substandard or overcrowded
living conditions- current housing will be verified.
• Applicants will be asked to verify employment,income (and/or public assistance) and provide
personal references.
• Applicants must consent to credit and banking verifications.
• Must be a resident of Henderson County for minimum of one (1) year.
• Applicant must meet income guidelines on following page.
This process for application is much like it is with any other lender, but without the same lending or
interest fees.
