Is the "Secret" really a secret after all or is this what we've already been taught from Biblical principals.

It seems that some have forgotten we've already been given the authority and dominion to call those things that aren't as though they were.  To think on the things that are lovely, honest, just, pure and of a good report.  That life and death is in the power of the tongue and we shall have whatsoever we say if we have faith the size of a mustard seed.  If we pray and believe and not doubt we have the power to change our situations and to speak them into or out of existence.

Not only is this written throughout the Scriptures but there are powerful people of God preaching this very message and have been for very long time.  Listen to Bishop T.D. Jakes, Rev. Kenneth Copeland, Pastor Joel Olsteen, Dr. Bill Winston, Dr. Mike Murdock, Bishop Darryl Winston, Pastor Joyce Myers, Rev. Fred Price, Pastor Cleffo Dollar just to name a few.

What is a "Secret" to the world's system is a "Way a Living" for the Kindom's system.

At least that's my opinion.

Chidale,

You are ssssooooooo right on! I completely agree that our life, all we are and all we need has been given to us from the Father and I for one will join you in making proclamation and thanking Him for what He has ALREADY GIVEN us and that is all we need for life and godliness! Dan,

Thanks for the reply.  Its very true that the Kingdom remains a mistery to some.  But Praise God He has counted us worthy to reveal IT to us.

From the age of 9 I've read or have been exposed to the Bible (actually since before 9), Dale Carnegie's books, 'As A Man Thinketh', the 'Power of Positive Thinking', and I've attend seminars and trainings on this very idea.  And yet, after 30 years, I still did not recognize the simplicity of how to make this work in my own life.

However, after watching 'The Secret', it all came together and made perfect sense; and I have seen from the very first day that I began to implement the process the radical change that has occurred in my life.  I now look at 'The Secret' as a way to generate conversations with those who are far from God.  This 'movie' can be used to briefly illustrate how accurate the Bible is and how readily and easily it can be applied in everyday life TODAY.

I think that the hardest thing about talking to non-believers about God, Christ or the Bible is that they cannot see how something (in their eyes) that was written by mere men so long ago isn't corrupted; that it has to be a conspiracy.  But with 'The Secret' the secular world has just proved how REAL the Bible truly is, and how those teachings are relevant to everyone, everywhere, every time.

Just my opinion.

Hi John,

I see your point.  I still believe the best way to witness is directly through the Word of God.  The Secret is not first nor will it be the last publication to take Biblical instructions and attempt to reveal them as newly discovered revelation.

Hello Chidale,

The SALT group and church that I'm a part of has just recently finished a four week evangelism series titled "Just Walk Across the Room" by Bill Hybels.  It turned the painful experience of trying to bring people closer to God from the publics perceived notion that we're all just a bunch of 'Bible-thumping' zealots, to one that closely resembles what Christ did...he surrounded himself mostly with those who were far from God (sinners), rather than communing solely with the Pharisees or the already converted.

Personally, I think time would be better spent befriending the unbeliever; telling them our own personal story; talking with them about God and/or the Bible as the opportunity naturally and comfortably arises; and to do all this with and through God's guidance.  And if that means the conversation starts with things like 'The Secret' and they start asking about how the Bible 'interprets' the message from 'The Secret', then just answer the question plainly, simply and directly.  And by allowing them to direct the flow of conversations about God, the Bible, Christ, etc. I know that God will use us to do or say whatever it is that that person needs at that time.

We just have to remind ourselves to be in constant prayer with God and to be willing to hear what He wants us to do or say, and not interject what we think should be said or done, or how it should happen.  God uses people and events in rather unique ways to bring us closer to Him, and it's not our place to judge the methods He employs.

If we were all willing to act on His direction, not question it (except to ensure it is truely God giving us that direction), not think that the miracle or conversion will occur only through us (we may be just a single step on that person's journey to God), then we would see God's hand more and more in every aspect of life and in every place on Earth.

John:  I understand where you are coming from.  God does use different methods and different people from different walks of life.  It's very important to "try" the spirit to know if GOD Himself is speaking.  Jesus used different parables (that were not Biblical OT) that brought conviction to folks.  As we grow in God, we too will be able to embrace the "liberty" in God where His Spirit is.  His concern is the soul.... and He will use whatever it takes.  I've heard of assignments where He sent His servants to the taverns to win souls... it's His choice.... if He can use an ass......

CHIDALE and the others who advocate "The Secret" - first, I have not seen the film or read the book, so what I have to say is all about perception.  I think the SECRET pulls from different religions and philosophies, trying to do a feel good empowerment thing - which on the surface is OK - HOWEVER the Bible clearly says woe to the man who takes away or adds from the writings of this book (The Bible) and I just can't imagine learning Biblical principals without the direct WORD of GOD - I cannot advocate a mans version with his Hollywood hype - It scares the dickens out of me

JOHN - Yes we are called to spread the word and evangelize but remember we all have our own unique gifts and not everyone is equipped to evangelize and those who are not equipped should not be guilted into the process.  There are those who are equipped to empower those who are ready to evangelize and build up the body in general - we all have our role and God knows what our gifts are and if we are using them or burring them

Now Have a Blessed Day,
