An Academic Pandemic
As I have reflected on what I would post for the contest that Anna Banana and Carol Williams are hosting, regarding how we shall rise above the current situation in our country, what has impacted me the most is to use this time to learn, learn, and then learn some more. As a former educator, I'm a learning geek at heart, therefore, this gift of time has been well utilized.
At the beginning of this pandemic, I took a nasty spill and tore the ligaments in my right ankle. This alone forced me to sit on my backside and allow the healing to begin. The one positive and effective activity I knew I could still engage in was by using my mind. There are so many wonderful online learning opportunities, webinars, and video conferences.
I decided to finally finish up my dissertation that was my only thing standing in the way to complete my doctoral degree! What a perfect time to get focused and complete a long-awaited project! With my office and agents, we have used this time to beef up on designations and certifications. I have watched my agents rack up the courses and programs that will enhance their real estate careers.
No sitting around wringing my hands over what I cannot control! What I can do is stay busy mentally and to also do some much-needed business and personal planning. I've cleared my desk of projects I have wanted to tackle for some time now.
Although I have had some physical challenges during these times, my brain has been getting plenty of exercise! So yes, I have chosen to rise above the pandemic panic and to use this time to sharpen my academic nerdiness. It has been an academic pandemic success for the win!
