My First 27 Days of Being a REALTOR®

By
Real Estate Agent with TOUCHSTONE REAL ESTATE

The things you are not taught in pre-licensing real estate school!  After 20 years of being an author, speaker, trainer, consultant to the real estate industry I decided to get my RE license. Many people thought I already was a REALTOR® but wasn’t, well today I have been one for 27 days.

Day two of being a REALTOR® an out of town buyer shows up to look around and buy a home.  Many showings, setting up my Supra eKey, figuring out my new MLS which I did have experience with and contacting agents to show listings.  Writing my first contract which was rejected, writing my second contract which was countered and we countered, writing addendums all of this never taught in real estate school.

So now I have a signed contract agreed upon by both buyer and seller, one week after becoming a REALTOR®, now we roll into more I wasn’t taught in real estate school, lender, escrow, title company, home inspection, WDO and as many of you know the list goes on

I am so thankful I have a broker looking over my shoulder helping me with what I didn’t learn in real estate school!  Thank you Addie Owens my broker with Touchstone Real Estate in Mount Dora, FL.

Good morning, Dick Betts congratulations on your first pending sale.... and your Broker/Owner is wise to be right by your side.... she owns the "liability".... even with seasoned agents, issues happen.... it's human error....

Congratulations, Dick... on that first pending sale. The big misconception amongs many people entering this profession is that real estate school teaches you how to be a real estate agent... it couldn't be further from the truth. Real estate school teaches you (hopefully) to stay out of real estate jail. The real learning begins when you start working... and an excellent broker to guide you is so important.

Thanks Nina Hollander looking forward to honing my skills as a REALTOR® and knew going in RE school was to prepare me to pass a test not practice RE

So true. Real estate school overlooks a great deal. You're fortunate to have a good broker as your mentor.

I wish you great success!
