Little Stevie Wonder as he was known when he signed his first recording contract with Motown at the ripe old age of eleven years old, was born Stevland Hardaway Morris. He eventually became Stevie Wonder to millions of adoring fans.
Blind since just after he was born Stevie has demonstrated a unique talent to make music. His first single Fingertips was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963, making him the youngest, at 13, to ever top the charts. By 1974, Wonder was one of the most successful figures in popular music.
Yet in spite of his tremendous success Stevie became disgruntled with society and at one point considered retirement from music. The sadness faded and in 1976 he released a double album titled Songs in the Keys of Life. The album debut at number one on the Billboard Pop Chart and went on to becoming the best-selling album of 1977. In 2005 the album was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Songs in the Key of Life featured multiple number one singles. I could have chosen any one of the number one song titles. But the song that I chose for today’s soundtrack, Love's In Need of Love Today, just seemed appropriate for the moment.
I searched for a video that would be as much fun to watch as it was to listen. Most of the one's I found were too long or too boring. Then I stumbled across this duet from Stevie Wonder and George Michael. So today on the Soundtrack you get a two for one.
