When buying a home "as is" know what you are doing. In our Maryland contract, there are two choices -0ne "as is" without inspections
or contingencies regarding condition.
The other is ''as is'' with the right to withdraw after inspections within a period, usually ten days.
This timing gives the buyer a chance to do an inspection and bring in various contractors to evaluate and provide estimates.
The problem is when a general home inspector then suggests having licensed contractors evaluate. It might be a roofer, HVAC, electrician, structural engineer, plumber, etc. and before you know it, that ten-day period passed. If you are planning to purchase "as-is," line up your contractors all at one time, address your concerns upfront.
Schedule your professionals all on one day with a 3-4 hour window.
