YUKON – One of the Best Places to Live in Oklahoma. It is one of the ‘bedroom communities’ of West OKC Metro. It is known for its robust Bohemian & Czech heritage. It is famous for Chisholm Trail, it is home to Chisholm Trail Festival & Czech Festival, Among Yukon’s famous sons is a film legend Dale Robertson & country singer Garth Brooks. And we shouldn’t forget our famous Grady the Cow, of course!
YUKON – One of the Best Places to Live in Oklahoma was founded by A.N. Spencer (a cattleman from Texas) in 1891 and was named for the Yukon River in Alaska. Historically, Yukon served as an urban center for local farmers and an area of a large milling operation. Yukon’s Best Flour sign is still widely recognized. It shines brightly at night at the top of the iconic flour mill on historical Rt 66.
YUKON Oklahoma Vibrant & Fast Growing City a rapid growth in the last decade. Still, the town prides itself to be family oriented and keeps a small town atmosphere. Yukon, OK covers about 25 square miles with a population of about 25,000 residents.
The area is continuing to grow in both the number of residents as well as retail spaces and a vibrant dining scene.
Being a long time resident of Yukon OK, I witnessed a lot of great changes and a tremendous growth of this town. Sometimes it seems like the progress happens too fast, however, I might be a little nostalgic.

The main commercial area which runs along Garth Brooks Blvd offers a vast array of vendors and services. You can shop and shop some more and find everything your heart desires. When you get tired and need more ‘oopmph’ there is plenty of awesome restaurants to choose from – Johnny Carino’s, Louies’s, Chili’s, Logan’s, Johnny’s, Alfredo’s and many more.
If you are thinking about more unique shopping … then head toward the Historical Route 66 on Main Street where you find lots of unique boutiques, specialty stores and more small restaurants and cafes.
Stop by the iconic Yukon’s Best Flour Mill – imagine that at one point this structure was ‘responsible’ for prosperity of the town.
Yukonites are very proud of their giant four legged ambassadors who reside at Express Ranches Clydesdales. These magnificent horses represent Yukon OK all over our Nation at special events.

Yukon is also well known for traditional Czech Festival in October and Yukon Chisholm Trail & Crawfish Festival in June.

From Daddy & Daughter Dance, Yukon’s Chocolate Festival, Festival of the Child, summer Concerts in the Park, Freedom Fest, Christmas in the Park and many, many more. rodeos, movies, restaurants, arts, shopping, festivals, sport events … there is something to do for everyone!
Yukon, OK has 11 highly rated Yukon Public Schools and excellent private schools like St John’s Nepomuk Catholic School, Southwest Covenant Schools and Harvest Hills Christian School.
Yukon, OK is also a home of YUKON MILLERS. Yukon High School Miller’s Stadium is a state of the art sports facility.
