What is doing it for the Karma?

I'm serious.

Does it mean that when I do something good and know what knows about it?   Example, putting a quarter in the parking meter for someone who's about to get a ticket and doesn't know it?

Or is it when the person knows what you are doing?  example,Someone drops something and you pick it up

Good question...is that like spanking your child now for when they make a mistake later?

It's like no matter what you do good or bad generates Karma. The way Karma works is that you can have too much good karma too. If you do, then you have to go through another cycle of rebirth so others can pay you back.

But, Karma wokrs on all levels, to the tinies microbe, to the humans. They actually have 4 different classes of awareness, so you know how deep a karmic event is. For example, you become a vegetarian so as not to harm something with a higher consciousness.  Like plants have the lowest awareness, followed by fish & birds, followed by the rest of animals, followed by humans.

Had to go to ask.com for this one.

Definition of Karma

Karma is intentional action, that is, a deed done deliberately through body, speech or mind. Karma means good and bad volition (kusala Akusala Centana). Every volitional action (except that of a Buddha or of an Arahant) is called Karma. The Buddha's and Arahants do not accumulate fresh Karma as they have destroy all their passions.

In other words, Karma is the law of moral causation. It is action and reaction in the ethical realm. It is natural law that every action produces a certain effect. So if one performs wholesome actions such as donating money to charitable organizations, one will experience happiness. On the other hand, if one perform unwholesome actions, such as killing a living being, one will experience suffering. This is the law of cause and effect at work. In this way, the effect of one's past karma determine the nature of one's present situation in life.

Karma is doing good period.   Doesn't matter if know one knows that you have done it.

I can see if you do something nice and the person knows it YOU can ask them to pass it on.

They can't pass it on if they don't know it

I think the idea that what goes around, comes around, is a good explanation of Karma.
