Good morning!!
I woke up several times during the night feeling despondent…
I had spent an hour and a half of the previous evening watching the Presidential Debate, a debate I had been looking forward to for several days…
As I sat in front of my TV last night, I watched two men that should be the best our country has to offer, and I couldn’t help feeling ashamed…
“How did it come to this?” I wondered…
Certainly a sign of the times. A sign of the division and hatred that seems to exist today in our country…
Oh how did it come to this?
But as I opened my computer this morning, I have noticed that, at least here on Facebook, I am not alone…
I see others expressing the same emotion. And not just along party lines…
For the first time in months, I see people expressing a common belief…
A belief that we can be better. We should be better. That we are better…
So as I move forward with my day, I find a ray of hope…
A hope that we can agree. That we can come together…
That we are better than what was displayed on our TVs last night. In our homes. In our living rooms. In front of our families…
And today, for the first time in the last several chaotic months, I am optimistic…
For today, I see our country coming together. Even if took shame to unify us, I am OK with that…
Because we need to come together. We can come together. We can finally agree on something....
We are better than this…
