So I just caught this flick starring Frankie Muniz, Sophia Bush, Jimmi Simpson, Milo Ventimiglia, Samaire Armstrong, and Adam Goldberg on Encore. With this cast of newly famous actors and actresses (with the exception of Muniz, who has been on the scene for awhile) this movie definitely had potential. I remember it being advertised when it opened and the basic premise. The premise is that these college age kids find a Beta copy of a new computer game in an attache bag that is given to one of them from the sister of a recently deceased friend. The game is called...drum roll please...Stay Alive! The kids think that of course the game would be fun. They all assume their online personas and begin to play. Almost immediately it becomes apparent that if your character dies in the game, you will suffer the same fate. There you have the premise!

As with all horror movies there is a necessary suspension of disbelief that must occur to make this film almost work. If the movie can keep your attention then theoretically the suspense builds...to a degree. If this happens then there is usually a payoff; sadly that is not the case with this movie. It falls short of what this talented cast could have delivered. Then again, the script which, was co-wrote by director William Brent Bell, may have been thin at best. Whatever the case, I am glad I saw this for free on Direct TV. If given the opportunity, I would probably not watch it again.

Rich, I've actually seen this one! (How did that happen, lol!) I agree with you, I like being scared but once was enough.

Anthony - I do hope you enjoy it!

Debbie - I enjoy a good fright once in a while too but this didn't even provide that for me!

Good review, Rich.  I'll probably avoid this.  Unless I forget & add it to my queue by mistake.  Then I'll remember this review as I'm watching it & say, I should've listened to Rich!  lol

Hey Rich...I just saw "The Bucket List"...have you seen it? It was great.

I'm dying to see "Get Smart" and we will probably go see Will Smiths new one on the fourth...sort of a tradition!

Hi Rich. Sounds like a really bad flick. I'll leave on the shelf when I come across it. Thanks.

Chris - Glad you liked the review!

Joan - I haven't seen it yet. I looks good but I'm waiting for it to hit Direct TV! I love Get Smart the TV series! I used to watch it as a kid and laugh at all the antics! I haven't heard much about Hancock except the name. I will keep an eye out for it...just watched the preview, looks awesome!

Vincent - Good call! As I know from your posts that you are a horror/suspense fan, this probably would not meet you expectations. Wait for it on late night TV or a movie channel!
