It's Columbus Day... Or Is It Discoverers Day?

Nina it is ashamed that there are efforts to cancel Columbus Day and name it something else.  Whatever, Columbus was or was not as a man, does not change what he accomplished.

Hi Nina Hollander, it is just so sad to witness what is going on in our nation today. Changing names will never cancel the history of the United States of America.

Nina- I absolutely love your perspective on COLUMBUS DAY...yes...I'll shout it out!  Our wonderful country was built by those who dared to explore and go beyond the known boundaries. 

And Ron and Alexandra Seigel I don't know what Larry would do without the mute button during ads and other nonsense on the tv. 

History is what it is and we cannot rewrite it. We can learn from it though. 

Hi Nina Hollander - I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post today.  When I was reading another post disparaging Columbus Day, I thought about what the world was like back in 1492 and the courage it took for all those explorers from past generations to the current generation that have or will explore on behalf of our world.  It is courageous to go to lands that we know nothing about.  As human beings, we have a thirst for knowledge and exploration and those explorers should be celebrated.....period. Thank you for sharing this.

Loved your post! Its been making me crazy with those trying to rewrite our history. It is what it is and we've learned, grown and are making better decisions because we understand out past.

Love your take on Columbus Day Nina, about the energy humans have to keep discovering something new.  Especially since the Vikings and others "discovered" the Americas before Columbus 

Columbus has gotten a raw deal . My of our rioters were obviously “D” or “F” History Students . Columbus was a spiritual man and personally did nothing that was common in that place in Time .

Here in Philadelphia, there is a statue of Columbus that is boarded up to protect him. It was donated by the Italian government in his honor many years ago. It has created such a stir among the Italian citizens here when people tried to destroy it they sat with guns to protect it. So now it is boxed up and hidden a piece of history  --- so Glad your post was Featured
