I have been working diligently on building a website for a while.  Well, I got so involved that I started building another website just for one main service that I offer, which be launched some time next week or sooner.

I never knew all the intricate detailing that goes into designing a website and have gained a new respect for professional website designers.    It gave me enjoyment and must say I am quite proud of my accomplishment.  However, I am getting nervous about launching it.

All of these thoughts are swimming around in brain...Will it be successful?  Is the color scheme, okay?  Will I generate busness from it?  Have I wasted my time? You got to be joking!  What was you thinking?

I haven't experienced this type of stomach crunching in a long time.  Can anyone offer some words of encouragement? Tell me about your feelings when launching your first website.  Give some tips on where to link website? Etc... I need something to calm my nerves...

Pamela,

When my web guy and I determined that the new was better than the old, we went live right away.

It WAS exciting, and that was better than waiting until it was perfect.

Unleash that Monster!!!  :D

Pamela- I just launched my new site a week ago, and I was very nervous.  I wasn't worried about design, but content. Would people come to my outside blog, would I have enough content for 2 sites, would I stay motivated without comments (knowing AR is very different than other sites...here you get comments :)

Anyway, after one week, I am still just as happy as I was, and so far I have added 2 Posts this week so I am happy.  Bottom line, it's normal to be nervous, and as the others said just launch it when you're ready as it might never be all you want it to be....that comes with time :)

Pamela -

If -

*your website is full of keywords

*you post announcements with links to your site on CraigsList.org, ActiveRain, and Kijiji.com

*you submit your website's address to search engines directly

- people should have no problem finding you.

Keywords is the most important part.  Ask everyone what words they use when they look for a notary/whatever and make certain those words are on your homepage.

Hi, Pam

I took a look.  The site is clean and clear.  I like it.

Add the names of documents you notarize: Deeds, Powers of attorney, Auto title transfer, etc.  Some people search for a notary and use these words.  Ex:  +notary +deed  or +notary +"reverse mortgage"  You have a good list of loan types.  Just add the names of specific docs.

Your phone numbers is the most important info on your site.  Don't make visitors scroll down for them.  Put them above the picture.  You made the big and bold.  Perfect.  Add them at the end as well.  I have mine listed 4 times on the home page.

Delete the links to notary directories and ActiveRain.  You have worked hard to get prospective clients to your site.  Don't encourage the low-price seekers to call your competition!  You could substitute the logos for those companies if you wish.  Just don't make the logos hot (they shouldn't be links visitors can click on to go to another site).

Very well done!

Laura,

Thank You! Thank You! can I say it one more time Thank You!  Your advice is very helpful.  Often times we fail as people to ask for help when we need it and loose the perspective of what others have to offer.  Full disclosure can at times make or break a person and what others see of you can enlighten you if you are willing to listen.   Thanks, one more time.....
