Beth, This is such a great cause! Count me in. I have given information on Deserving Decor to realtors (sellers may want to donate), and people having yard sales (they can call me at the end of the day to pick and choose items that could be donated and know that a family in need will appreciate them). Family and friends are spreading the word also. Donations so far include: chest of drawers, wicker nite stand, a lamp, dishes - sevice for eight, and many more boxes full of goodies. Giving back is so rewarding.

Thanks Sharon for your efforts! The items you collected will be put to good use. I have rounded up a loveseat sleeper, a loveseat dual recliner, a wingback chair and ottoman and numerous other items and more to pick up. We could use some help picking up (moving items). People have been contacting me on a regular basis since I posted an ad on Craigslist to donate furnishings. Storage is an issue but I am working on that also. They have a double car garage at the shelter full of items that cannot be used. It is going to be cleaned out on June 30th by the boy scouts then we will be able to store the items there and use them as needed. A one bedroom apartment is being vacated in the next couple weeks and will be redcorated using the donated furnishings. Thanks again!

Beth,

What a worthy endeavor.  I've not heard of this in anyplace I've lived.  I hope it catches on nationally.

Thanks Diane, the recipients are so grateful and expect so little, it's a humbling experience. I hope it catches on too! I know it is needed!

Beth,

I have a full size van that we can use to pick up donated items and use also when it is time to transport items to the storage facility. At this time I don't have the man power to help. If your crew can do the heavy lifting, I can provide the van.

I happened upon this site as I was looking for Some sort of service that might be able to help my children and myself ... I am living in a house that I'm being evicted from... and the electric was just cut off today :( My estranged husband left us in Feb and went back to Canada where he is not working nor is he sending us any money ... and now he is unable to reenter the US.  Anyway, I have been looking for work since then and I haven't even had a call back ... Would you happen to know of any place is the Bucks County area that might be able to help us ... I don't know what to do and my only option would be to send the kids up with him and for me to stay in my car I called a number that was given to me and they said they can only help people in Philadelphia with a shelter ... I just need to know if anyone knows any numbers I might be able to call. Thank you for your time.
