Looking for some tasty authentic Tex Mex that is served quickly? Señor Taco Express is your answer!
This somewhat recently opened restaurant is located on the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Pinnacle Peak, in the Sprouts plaza.
We were looking for a quick, but fresh lunch the other day and decided to give it a try and we are glad we did. Not only do you get a great meal, nothing on the menu costs over $10.99. You can order via the drive-through or you can eat in the restaurant or on the misted patio.
You will find all of the items you are expecting to see - burritos, tacos, quesadillas, carne asada and more. The burritos are enormous and come with traditional fillings as well as some playful ones, like a Philly Asada which plays off a Philly Cheesesteak. Vegetarian and vegan burritos are also options.
You have your choice of tacos in soft form (corn or flour), hard shell and they even offer two versions of petite street tacos.
If you are not a fan of tortillas, they have some salad offerings as well as protein Baja Bowls which are basically burritos without a tortilla. You can order them with meat or they have vegetarian and vegan options.
If you are looking for more variety, they have Daily Specials that give you a few different items at a great price.
If you are more of a breakfast person, they have a long menu of breakfast burritos and a couple of breakfast bowl options.
For our lunch, we tried the Chicken Baja Bowl and the Carne Asada Street Tacos. The Baja Bowl included a good-sized serving of chicken that had just been prepared as well as rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo. It was filling, fresh and delicious. The Carne Asada Street tacos had a ton of flavor and were the right size for someone who was not super hungry.
Señor Taco Express is a nice addition to the area and we look forward to trying some new items next time.
