What's so great about having 5+ acres of rural Kalispell land?

When you dream about building your dream home in Kalispell or any area of the Flathead Valley in Montana, what runs through your mind? Do you want to be secluded from your neighbors? Would you like room to roam? Do you want to make dog or hiking paths? Will you need room for a shop or two? What about a garden? Do you need to furnish your own firewood? If yes, you're not alone in your dreams!

Many buyers considering purchasing land in Northwestern Montana have already thought through these questions. And the answer is different for everyone. Some buyers would be happy with a tenth of an acre in a popular Kalispell development. Some might want to be right next to their neighbors in the center of town, close to everything. And there are plenty of options for those buyers. But then there are those (possibly you?) dreaming of something else.

If you want the following, you might wish to consider a Montana parcel of five or more acres...

Privacy: Do you dream of wandering out your door and the only thing you see are trees? No other houses, cars or people? Do you want to be in an area where you can do what you want, when you want, without worrying about the neighbors?

Noise: Does the idea of listening to nature, and not car horns, buses, yelling people or the neighbor's music, appeal to you? What about standing in the silence of the forest during a snowfall? Are you intrigued by a walk where all you can hear is the puff of your own breath? Rural Kalispell land photo of veggie garden

Self-Sufficiency/Resources: Do you dream of self-sufficiency?

  • Vegetable Gardening: While it is totally doable to have a small vegetable garden in town, do you want a southern facing spot with enough room to grow anything you want? Rows of tomatoes for canning, a place for potatoes, and lots of room for squash? Do you want to experiment with herbs, make sure you have space for onions, garlic and more?

  • Firewood: Have you dreamt of harvesting your own trees, getting out the chainsaw to split it up into manageable pieces, and then making your own firewood with your sharp ax? And then seasoning it for use in the following year?

  • Hunting: Are you a hunter? Perhaps you'd like to gather your gear, walk ten minutes to your own perfect hill overlooking a valley and watch the animals just walk into your line of sight?

Exploration: Do you want to be able to constantly find new things? Wow, look at that grove of aspens. Oh! That woodpecker made that big hole for its babies, but the squirrel found it. Is that a mountain lion print? Oh my, look at those edible berries, mushrooms, or whatever! Do you need property so you can go cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or otherwise explore?

Hiking: To take exploration a bit further, do you enjoy getting out and walking through nature? Would you like to throw on hiking shoes, grab your backpack, open the back door, and just go? What about the ability to build your own running or hiking trail on your own land?

Wildlife: Would you enjoy watching deer wander past your living room window on a regular basis? What about listening to the chatter of squirrels, chipmunks and birds? Or hearing the squawking of a soaring hawk? Seeing a coyote, bear, elk or other animal wander.. or run.. through your parcel? Rural Kalispell land photo of horses

Pets/Horses/Livestock:  Do you need room for your dogs to explore and run? Do you dream of horses or perhaps raising some sort of livestock?

Toys:(I mean equipment..) Do you need space to store your side-by-side, ATV, tractor, 4-wheel drive trucks and the like? Do you want to be able to have room to store those items in a huge garage? And then to hop on them and just take off into your own wilderness?

Shop: Do you want a place to work? Perhaps you are a boat builder, or furniture maker, or car mechanic. Would you enjoy having enough space to put a beautiful and fully-equipped shop? Heated by a wood stove with your own firewood?

If any of these speak to you, you should consider purchasing five or more acres in Kalispell or anywhere else in the Flathead Valley of Montana.

Wow... following your link... 5,470 acres for only $350,000 list price?  That's only $63 per acre.   I almost can't afford NOT to move to big-sky-country.

Dörte Engel - Wow, 70 miles? Five would be small for hunting, but it would depend on the terrain as to whether it was a safe thing to do. There is no rule about acreage and hunting.

70 miles outside of town. I guess a lot of ejits that never got the proper training & sent bullets flying the wrong way. Some people still got animals, if they walked in their yard with nobody looking. Bow and arrow was allowed closer in. I never hunted, so do not know the details now.

It's amazing, Will Hamm . Yesterday I video'd about 10 turkeys waddling past my bedroom window. Love it!
