Once more up the mountain... this time with 'feeling'!

By
Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

There are some days... many days that I feel like Sisyphus.

For those that don't know, or don't remember, Sisyphus was from Greek mythology.  He was punished by the gods (I don't really remember what for... the gods were pretty random and petty back then)... and his punishment was to push a boulder up the side of a mountain every day, only to find it back at the bottom the following morning, and push it back to the top again.  For eternity.

Remember this book?Sometimes I feel like I'm just pushing that boulder up the hill, over and over and over again.

Okay... not really "Sisyphushian" ... after all, I do get a reward for my efforts, at least most of the time. But I gotta admit, that boulder is getting harder and harder to continue pushing up that hill.

I still love the view, and the people I meet along the path.

But that boulder is getting heavier, isn't it?  Right?

You made me wonder curious as a cat I had to Google this Alan May here is what I found the king of Corinth he became infamous for his general trickery and twice cheating death. He ultimately got his comeuppance when Zeus dealt him the eternal punishment of forever rolling a boulder up a hill in the depths of Hades.

I feel like I get different hills every once in a while to keep it fresh.

yep... sometimes the hills change, and the boulder gets larger or smaller... (this year it looks more like this!).

I think we are all familiar with that feeling of pushing the boulder up hill.  Love Tammy Lankford, 's comment.  It is good that the scenery goes change from time to time and it's not a Groundhog Day situation day in and day out.

That's actually some of the appeal of this bizness.  Each day is different, each client is different... and yet, all the same.

Tammy Lankford,

I agree Alan, the asshat people go and new fun great people show up.  The tough deals pass and an feel good one comes along.  Cetainly has always been an appeal for me.

And Chris Ann my former career was very Groundhog Day which is why I made a change 30 years ago.

Hi Alan- I used to think that when I had to weed the yard. Pull them up and boom...they're back. Thank you Hannah Williams for filling in the gap.

Alan I didn't know this story but there have been times that it's felt like that damn boulder needed to be dragged up again and again.  Thank goodness that period ended and the gods are happy with me again.  Hope you get in their good grace soon.

Let's load that boulder in the back of a truck, drive up the mountain, and push it down the hill! Seems like it would be easier. And yes, I read the story ages ago too.

There are days when it feels like I am pushing a boulder up a hill ... and certain things certainly are getting harder.
