I recently read an article about handling on-line leads.  The article was written by Michael Russer and was called "6 Best Practices for Online Leads".    I didn't agree with everything that he wrote but I did find it full of good ideas so I decide to share.  Below are the 6 Practices that he listed and a link to the article.

Best Practice #1: Respond in Kind

Best Practice #2: Don't Call Them

Best Practice #3: Always Include Your E-mail Signature

Best Practice #4: There's No Such Thing as Too Fast

Best Practice #5: Keep in Touch, Or Else

Best Practice #6: Treat Online Leads Like Human Beings

I've followed Micahel "Mr.Internet" Russer for a long time.  he has a lot on the ball.  The only beef I have with him is that he wants us to farm virtually everything to virtual assistants.  I wouldn't mind so much but I don't have the $$$$ to sub everything out!

I'm going to have to read Mr. Internet.  I would love to farm everything out.  Need to get the dough first as well.

I think treating everyone like a human being and with respect should be such a part of us it isn't even needed on the list.... like check your spelling, use punctuation....

George, I can't imagine how much money I have spent on online Leads to date. I must have been doing something wrong because I never seemed to have any success with that. They always have reasons like, 3 other lenders already called me, my daughter was just messing with the computer, we are already working with another lender, etc.

Great tips. Mr. Russer held a seminar last year for our board and gave me a lot of great ideas. I agree though that he does push the VA's. Another great idea but you need to have the cash flow to make that work.

There are good companies and not so good lead companies. I'm working with one right now I love and have closed almost $5M this year alone. Another I "tested", still disputing with my credit card company even though they offered a 30 day money back guarantee and I canceled on day 2!

Hi George thanks for the tip. I will take a look at the sight. I have found that internet leads take time. You really have to stay with them and expect a 6-9 month waiting period before they are serious candidates. Of course, there will always be some that are ready immediately, but for the most part, they do take time. If you hang in there and stay the course, enough clients will come your way to help your business grow. Keep track of the expense and get rid of the plans that are not working. Just my 2-cents.
