Like a number of other Southern California communities, Carlsbad is going green, in more ways than one. Just a few of their efforts:
- Most recently the town offices were retrofitted with new energy efficient heating, venting, and air conditioning units
- Solatubes were installed in the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce offices to cut down on electric lighting
- An Environmental Action Plan is being developed for the city
- Focusing on improvements such as purchasing recycled materials where possible
- CERMT, the Carlsbad Environmental Resources Managements Team was created in 2007 to evaluate and improve how Carlsbad manages its environmental initiatives (other project involvement include the desalination plant, management of storm water , and the Habitat Management Program)
- The city is looking into converting city vehicles to hybrids and working on ways to reduce
With the increasing interest in creating a healthy community that will be sustainable for years, Carlsbad is to be applauded for their on-going efforts to be as green as possible.

Hi Jeff, so if I get a seaweed wrap at La Costa, that would be considered greening ... right?
