Any successful business owner will tell you how important it is to market your business at all times, and to always be on the look out for new and inventive ways to do so.

One of the guerrilla marketing techniques I decided to employ was to use my car as a advertising tool. Because being mobile is the key to my business, I spend almost as much time in my car as I do at home. If fact, my car is my second home.

As I was deciding what method to use - window lettering, door magnets, etc. this brightly colored vehicle drove right past me. I liked what I saw so much I called them right away!

After deciding on the wording and the colors this is what I came up with and I absolutely love it! It's only been a couple of days so no one is knocking down my door quite yet but I am confident I will be receiving business in no time.

Will it fade the paint color?  How much does it cost?  This is a good idea & I think that you may get business from your sign.

Leolinda, they say it won't fade in color and it actually proctects your car paint. What I got was about $200.

We have custom signage on our vehicle as well. It works!

I have a 'sign' on my back window & magnetic reflective signs on side doors.  On the back window, from inside, you can't see it, as it does not interfer with my vision.  On the outside if you look very close, it has all those holes, but from a distance, you can read it just fine.  I'll have to do a blog soon so you can see it!  BTW, I have received business from it!

Thanks, Patty & Ron for assuring me of my vehicle signs success. I can't wait to share my first success story.

LaShon, the is sure to get attention whether you are on the road or parked in the parking lot. One of my neighbors had a similar sign placed on his car (different business) and his business is booming. Lots of luck to you. I will be checking your blog site for updates,

Thanks, Jacqueline. It's so bright I feel like I can be seen from outerspace. *lol* I'll let you know how it works out.

Just today I put almost 70 miles on my car so I'm sure someone had to see it. :)

You will get calls from other drivers and some funny things happen.  The last one funny incident is when a car next to me was on their way to a notary and called  me to ask if I could notarize a couple of documents. I said "sure pull over to that Pizza Hut" and I notarized the documents right there on the hood of their car.

Joan, I'm excited to receive my first job on the road. I'm sure the sign will soon pay for itself.

I love your car sign!  I will definitely look into doing this...Thank you so much for sharing this awesom idea...your carsign in certainly not typical, and will surely catch the public's eye!

Good Luck to you and your venture!  Let us all know how this type of advertising works out for you!

Hi LaShon!  I have thought about using this form of marketing, but I am somewhat apprehensive because it seems a little unsafe... and I live in one of the safest communities in the country.  It just makes me a little nervous.  I know I'm probably being paranoid.

I wouldn't worry about this type of advertising at all.

Our phone number as a notary/loan-signer is published all over the Internet. Anyone can find out our phone number if he/she wants to.

I forgot one funny conversation I had with a fellow who called me on my cell; I had my dog in the car and she was hanging out the window (1/2 Charpee/ 1/2 Welsh Corgi)

He calls up and says " Who's the notary?"

I told him  "She's the notary I am just driving her around for her appts."

Cheers

Sure my phone number is all over the internet, but my face isn't.  What if some strange guy sees a nice looking woman alone in a car advertising services and decides to call for an appointment.  Then I would really have to be on my toes about going to stranger's homes.  It's already a little dangerous anyway.  Some of my friends ask me how I do it -- especially at night they say.  I tell them usually they're nice couples and I haven't had any problems.

You just never know... that's all I'm saying.

Denise, when I started my NSA business, I met with a local woman about 55-60, who was active in the community and used to be a NSA.  She met with me and gave me some AWESOME pointers that helped my business skyrocket.  She didn't want to take credit, but she DID help tremendously.  One day, I asked her why she no longer did it.  She said she went to a home one day, was a man about 40-50 years old, had all the blinds pulled closed and it was early evening.  She said it made her so uncomfortable, she felt it was no longer worth it.  I said I never thought of it that way, but I certainly understood!!

Great idea, I love it.  I thought about advertising that way, but the Mr. was not having it.  He told me the only way he will let me is if he was available to accompany me at all times.  Though nice, it would not be possible and I need my space...don't let the Mr. know that I said that :) I hope it proves profitable for you...

Lashon - You may want to check with your accountant to see if you can take additional deductions for your car since you are using it as advertising.

LaShon--excellent idea---give us an update.  I am renewing my notary, as a matter of fact, tomorrow--I've had it for 20 years and don't really make any money since I don't charge--I really got it for convenience.  It comes in handy when the seller can't get to escrow or to a notary! but I thought about doing the Mobile notary--still debating!

Glad it's going well for you!

LaShon, Thank you so much for sharing this idea.  I am looking into getting a magnetic sign for my vehicle since I offer more than just Notary Service.  I am also a Private Investigator and do Process Service so it would have to be something that I can remove from time to time.  Thanks for sharing.
