Friday June 20, 2008 at 7 pm is the "Real Dairy Parade" in Meridian Idaho!

The Parade will start on WaterTower Lane, and proceed north on Main Street to Fairview Avenue.

Dairy Days has been celebrated in Meridian in some form or another since 1929.  This event pays tribute to Meridian's history as the Dairy Capitol of the Treasure Valley.

There are many events, but the Parade has been my families favorite since we bought our first home in Meridian as a young married couple in 1992.  This year there will be over 100 entries, all with a Dairy theme.  Dairygold usually hands out chocolate milk and string cheese, there is the new Rocky Mountain  High School cheerleaders and football players, and my boys favorite the Meridian Fire Dept. brings out some of the trucks. StarMedia and 24 Hour Digitizing give out thousands of FREE T SHIRTS that are a coveted item here in Meridian.  My kids have the collector's set of these shirts from past years!

This event really showcases Meridian's small town approach to city life!  Meridian is really "Built for Business....Designed for Living"

The Dairy Days Parade is a must attend event in our household.  My Brother-in-law's company gives out free T-shirts at the event.  These are coveted items here in Meridian, and it's fun to see them throughout the year!  Thanks for stopping by Duane!

Andy, We did have a lot of fun at the Parade.  We got our Dairy Days T shirts, chocolate milk, and string cheese!  There were many old tractors that they had pulling the floats, and I enjoyed seeing those.  My little guy's favorite thing was the racecars from Meridian Speedway.  He said he liked the NASCARS best!

Thanks for stopping by!

Wait, is that you in that picture - waving like Miss Meridian?  So are your girls following mommy's footsteps?

Are you saying I'm one of the horses?  ; )

My oldest daughter is probably going to be in her first pageant next summer.  My younger daughter will probably be in pageants too, but not till she's older.

How are you surviving the heat?  It's been around 100* here and I'm not quite ready for it.

I would like to acknowledge the fact the the Rocky Mountain Dance Team also participated in the parade, they did a routine for the whole parade length behind the float.

They participated in all of the events leading up to the parade, including making purchases and creating the float along with the cheerleaders.

The team has 15 members, and 5 officers with 3 members of the coaching staff, and these girls have already been working quite hard to unite the team and dance.

It was fun to see the new Rocky Mountain HS represented there.  I wrote the blog before the event happened.  The RMHS Dance team did a great job and looked awesome!

Thanks for stopping by Luke!  I love cheese curds!
