3 Easy Ways to Make the Holidays Bright Without Lots of Stuff

This year has been difficult for many of us, and we are ready to turn to the holiday season with a sense of happiness and peace.

Yet, it will be easy to fill Christmas with tons of stuff this time around. Toys, knick-knacks, and online impulse purchases that feel great in the moment, but leave us in January feeling like the clutter has taken over our home (and left our wallets bare).

Now, by all means, buy the things that you really want, but consider these options too. They'll add magic to the season without overwhelming you with junk later on.

1. Try a Countdown

In our home, we love reading books as a countdown to Christmas. It's an easy way to bring us together, and if you lend them from the library, they're completely free (and clutter-free)!

Bible verses, movie countdowns, and activity calendars are other fantastic options to celebrate the season fully. Check out: 25 Days of Christmas Books + Other Great Countdowns

2. Invest in Experiences Over Stuff

Part of the reason it's easy to overdo it on stuff this year is that experiences are harder to come by in 2020. And we're in our homes so much more! But, we CAN still do it with a little creativity!

Give a coupon for a tea party and have a fancy one in your home. Or invest in a camping adventure or a getaway that's outside enjoying nature. Think outside the box, and you can still put memories before items.

3. Try Non-Toy Gifts for Kids

Finally, kids are often the most clutter prone people in the home. After cleaning out their rooms, we're always pretty disgusted with how many toys they've acquired that they don't care about. So, this year, consider buying the kids in your life meaningful or useful items that they'll love. You can check out 60+ Non-Toy Gifts for Kids for more!

In Conclusion

Let's enjoy the holiday season this year with wonder and joy. And when 2021 rolls around, we'll know that we built meaningful relationships and lasting memories with what we did in December.

So, here's to an intentional holiday! May it be merry and bright!
