"Laugther is the best medicine. If laughter doesn't work, go see the doctor."
Today I am thankful for my lung inhaler prescription.
Have you ever seen that commercial with the elephant sitting on top of a persons chest? Beginning sometime in 2008, that's exactly how I felt just from walking across my driveway to the mailbox. It wasn't a good way to live.
I went to my primary care doctor and he prescribed an inhaler but ran absolutely no tests. The inhaler helped but did not give long term relief. While on a trip to Missouri in 2012, I was fortunate enough to be referred to a lung specialist. He put me through the battery of tests to determine what was actually going on. It turns out suffering through three bouts of pneumonia over the years has left my lungs working at 44% capacity. He gave me the magic prescription I needed to get my lungs functioning better on a daily basis.
I won't be climbing Mount Everest, but I live a fairly active lifestyle. Most people don't know I have issues because I know what my limitations are and try not to put myself in situations that my lungs can't handle.
I am so grateful for a doctor who took the time to dig a little deeper and come up with a solution that continues to work and allow me to be active.
They say it is no accident that many of our favorite comedians have experienced a lot of tragedy in their lives. Comic relief is likely how they survived. Yes, laughter is the best medicine!

Oh my goodness, how crazy is that story, Carol! You were so fortunate to find that doctor. I had a similar situation when I had a gall bladder issue so I know what you went through trying to get answers.

Hi Carol - as one whose lungs are not the best- I hear 'ya! I cannot believe the first doctor would give you an inhaler without looking further into what was going on! I'm glad that you found someone who took the time to diagnose your condition !!!

Those things are definitely life savers! I can't even imagine having to rely on one of them myself though. I am so very grateful that my health has always been good and as I get older I work harder to make sure it stays that way. Hopefully, I am doing the right things.

Good morning Carol. If you know what is wrong you can adjust and move on. Those who make snap descisions are not helpful. Glad you got the right advice. Hit them straight.

Morning Carol.
I lost the lower third of my right lung in 1987. Hasn't affected me one bit. It did make me quit smoking which is a good thing. So happy to hear you got the attention you needed.
