While taking the e-Pro class back in 2007, ActiveRain was brought up to those in class to start blogging. This was a "new word" back then, on the cutting edge in fact. It took a few years (like many) to get the hang of this, and how/what to share, and to interact in order to get the most out of your participation.
In those early years, there were ActiveRain University to assist in how to write, what links to add, how to share on social sites, and how to get your blogs to rank in Google. It WORKED and had lots of public calls off the posts I wrote. Those links and rankings still help me rank on page one for many neighborhoods I like to work in!
There were so many posts you could learn from, from real estate to technology and even items in our personal lives to improve. Every day you could spend HOURS reading, and still have more to read. Sadly, some of our members that added value have no longer been posting on ActiveRain.
Besides the SEO and business that I benefited from, there is another side - the MEMBERS! Many times, I have picked up the phone and had great conversations with so many across the Country. After that, many I have met in person, whether it was a meet-up, or I was on vacation, have met many across the Country in-person. I know I have met at least two dozen, if not more, members over the years.
What five things I am grateful for from being on ActiveRain:
1. First and foremost are the MEMBERS! Overall these years, even some bloggers that are no longer here, I stay in touch with!
2. Education - there are still so many things to learn by reading posts!
3. Learning about different areas of the Country. We read so many posts from bloggers in other States and can relate to relocating clients about markets outside our own.
4. It benefits at a listing appointment. I share with the potential Sellers that I blog about their home, along with videos and Realbird. This does add value, and many times win their listing if competing.
5. Last, but not least, all the referrals from other members. The reason I really got started blogging was a large referral from a Texas agent that saw me on ActiveRain!
After thirteen years on the ActiveRain platform, we have seen lots of changes. Missing Kerrie still.... We went through a few purchases of this platform and lately, many issues what that dang dog, and some features not available. When this happens, just walk away, and soon they will be fixed!
