On the heels of Verizon launching 5G cellular service in Akron, rival nationwide carrier AT&T announced Monday it has launched 5G service in Cleveland, Akron and Lorain.
AT&T’s 5G will be available to customers who have a 5G-capable device and compatible plan, the company said in a statement to cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer.
On Friday, Verizon launched its “5G Ultra Wideband” service in Akron, after having expanded the network in the Cleveland area earlier this year. AT&T has previously announced plans to launch 5G service in Cleveland this year, but as of Friday, the AT&T coverage map did not indicate that 5G was available in Cleveland or Akron.
