I got home from work the other day and my wife and I were trying to figure out what to do Saturday evening. We have been to moist of the local restaurant s and wqanted to do something different. Movies were out, I don't care for the mall and the local Orpheum did not have what we were looking for.
My daughter walked in and announce that she wanted to go to the school's Senior play and see her firneds perform.
We had our answer.
It was a production of West Side Story. This year is actually the 50th Anniversary of the play opening. We had seen the pl;ay at Proctor's in Schenectady a few years ago and figured it would be a fun date. So it appears did the rest of Saugerties.
We had a great time. The acting was excellent and the singing, remeber this play has some great songs, was very good. The actors really got into it and the crowd provided a standing ovation at the end.
Saugerties is a small town in Northern Ulster County and has many sm,all town features. Everyone goes to the high school games and plays and the schooll is really a focal point for the community. Like many other peo;lle we moved here from a more congested area and nights like last night, are the reason why.
I you don't know what to do next weekend, look around...there may be something really fun, Right in Your Own Backyard.
