Christmas is my very favorite time of year for many reasons. For one I was born on Christmas Eve and every year since everyone around the country decorates their home just for me! LOL. My Mom, bless her beautiful heart, who died 18 years ago today, was an incredible Mom.
Ever since I was little our home was the 'Christmas House' and it was magical everywhere you looked. Of course, I inherited that gene from Mom and I use it well and often! I miss her and at the same time it's like she's always here in subtle ways suggesting this or that or saying, how about you try this honey. I feel close to her always. And I feel blessed to have her as my Mom!
The first or second year I moved to Phoenix my parents decided they wanted to buy a home here in Phoenix. I'll never forget the day they moved in and there were so many boxes of dishes. Like 3 or 4 sets of 48 place settings. What in the world are you going to do with all those dishes? BTW she loved dishes and used to entertain A LOT. Again - another gene I inherited from her. Lucky me!
That very first Christmas they were in Phoenix she wanted me to invite my friends over for Christmas Eve. And she says.... bring as many friends as you like honey! I was heavily involved in the community so I knew a lot of great people. When we arrived at their home, she, of course, had their home beautifully decorated along with a dinner table set to the festive T. The most beautiful part was she had no lights on - only candles. And it was so peaceful and festive all at the same time. My friends couldn't believe what an amazing party she had created for all of them. They felt special to be part of this special Christmas Eve. That's just the way she was with everyone. She made people feel special! A gift!
