Here’s the Most Recent Carlsbad Art Wall Mural
~ November 2020 ~
The 4th Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW) mural of 2020, and the 26th overall, was recently painted by Matty Davis.
Davis lives in Aspen, CO but in the past was a practicing artist here in Carlsbad Village and was one of the early Artists in Residence at the well known New Village Arts Foundry gallery in the Village. Check out his Instagram site.
If you live in the area or have visited Carlsbad, you probably have driven by the wall as you head to the beach on Carlsbad Village Drive. Even if you don’t know the official #CarlsbadArtWall name you may have observed the changing murals on the east-facing wall of Senor Grubby’s Mexican Restaurant, just west of the train tracks and easily seen as you head west.
The Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW) was founded in 2015 by well-known Carlsbad artist, Bryan Snyder, with the cooperation of the owner of Senor Grubby’s in Carlsbad Village. The Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful venue for residents and visitors to enjoy temporary public art by local, regional and international artists, with several new murals a year.
Carlsbad has a reputation as a growing and changing arts community, with abundant public art (an interactive map). The Carlsbad Art Wall is a wonderful part of our expanding and vibrant arts community!
Muralists invite the public to watch them at work, and typically murals are painted over a weekend.
Here are some recent Carlsbad Art Wall murals to enjoy:
Carlsbad Art Wall February 2020
Carlsbad Art Wall October 2019
Carlsbad Art Wall January 2019
The #CarlsbadArtWall is a fun, public opportunity for talented artists to showcase their creativity for visitors and residents to enjoy for a few months, and a special addition to our Village by the Sea!
