Celebrating Black-owned businesses
Google has a new feature to help black-owned businesses.
Black-owned businesses can now add this special attribute to their Business Profile.
Even if you are not a black-owned business, perhaps you know someone who is and can share this with them so they can immediately take advantage of this feature.
The steps to add this attribute on a Google listing are simple:
1. Sign in to your free Google My Business listing account.
(note: if you don't have one yet, you're really missing out on a powerful free feature from Google. Need help? I help businesses set these up properly for a one-time fee of $179)
2. From the Google My Business menu, click on Info
3. Scroll down to the section titled "Attributes" and click on the pencil icon to edit this section of your Google business listing.
4. When the attributes window opens, click the + symbol next to "Black-owned business" and click the "Apply" button.
(note: there are other options here too such as "woman-owned" and "veteran-owned")
That's it! Google may take a day or two to update the information. Once published, these attributes may appear publicly on Search, Maps, and other Google services.
